get2gether celebrates the power of community after the Kiltwalk 2025!
We did it again! On Sunday 14th September, 11 get2gether members and 2 get2gether Ambassadors took on the 5-mile Wee Wander as part of the Edinburgh Kiltwalk and they all crossed the finish line raising over £2,000 for get2gether!
For our walkers, this challenge was about so much more than just covering miles. It was about friendship, self determination, and the incredible power of community.
“I felt a deep sense of camaraderie on the day. Everyone was so supportive of each other, and even though we all walked at our own pace, that was really welcomed and respected. It meant no one was left behind and we all celebrated at the finish line together.”– Elliot, get2gether member

What is self determination and collective power?
Self-determination is when you make things happen that will maintain or improve the quality of your life. For our members, that could mean taking part in the Kiltwalk, hosting an event for the first time, or simply choosing to show up and get involved.
Self determination looks different for everyone. For get2gether member Jason, it meant stepping up to take part in the Kiltwalk and now going even further by chairing our Steering Group and sharing his story at this year’s Annual General Meeting in November. For others, it might be building friendships, trying something new, or finding the confidence to lead.
“I have made friends for life since joining get2gether. I am doing the Kiltwalk so others can have that too”- Jason, get2gether member
Self determination is individual to the member but what binds everyone together is collective power. When we support each other, work together, and lift each other up, we create real and lasting change.
That collective power was clear at the Kiltwalk. Each of the 13 walkers completed the route at their own pace, with encouragement and respect for one another along the way. By walking together, they raised over £2,000 for get2gether, showing just what’s possible when individual action meets community spirit!
