Kirsty’s Skydive
Within seconds of leaving the aeroplane, Kirsty entered a state known as terminal velocity. Terminal velocity itself sounds scary, but it’s an awesome feeling because you don’t feel like you’re falling. Here is Kirsty’s story of her recent skydive!
Q: Do you want to tell us a bit more about yourself and how long have you been a member of get2gether?
I became a member of get2gether when it was still called dates and mates Lothian, so I think I have been a member from the beginning. I am now a 28 year old woman who loves to challenge herself. I have done a abseil before from the forth rail bridge for Chest, heart and stroke Scotland. I am a brave one and I love too sing too!
Q: You recently did an awesome thing! Why have you decided to do a skydive and is this something you have done before?
I always wanted to do a skydive and this is the 1st skydive I have done so I am very proud of myself.
Q: How did you prepare for the jump?
I got the training before doing the skydive. After you finish with the training, you then get an allocated time slot to do your jump. In the meantime, you get kitted up with jump trousers and helmet with glasses attached and a harness. You get taught how to lift your legs up when you land, so to me it was like I was on a swing!
Q: Were you not scared at all?
I was not scared at all. I am a brave one!
Q: You said it was a fundraiser. How did you raise funds for and how much did you raise?
I raised funds for it on my Just Giving page and I raised over 1000 pounds, so I managed to get over my target. It’s going to a good cause – the fundraiser is still open and I invite you to support me if you can.

Q: What do you like most about being a member of get2gether?
I like being a member of get2gether, because I love going out places especially going to the karaoke and singing my heart out. As well as seeing my best friend Kirsty and all my friends, I also love to Dance the night away at the ATIK!
