March 2026 Cover Story
Take the Lead: Join the Steering Group and Have Your Say!
This month is all about taking the lead. Being part of get2gether means leading in your own way, trying new things, stepping up, sharing your ideas, and helping shape the decisions that affect your community. From attending the Disabled Peoples’ Question Time hustings to joining training on how get2gether works or becoming part of the Steering Group, there are plenty of ways to take part this month and make sure your voice is heard.
Meet our Steering Group
This month’s cover stars are our fantastic Steering Group members, pictured at their most recent meeting.
The Steering Group is made up of get2gether members who help guide what we do. They meet every six weeks, both online and in person, to share ideas, give feedback, and help shape the direction of the organisation.
Each meeting is chaired by a get2gether member, who leads the discussion, keeps to the agenda, and makes sure everyone has a chance to speak.
“I had never chaired a meeting before, so it really helped me gain confidence and I wasn’t on my own. Everyone, get2gether staff and members, were there to support me.”- Bilal, Steering Group and get2gether member.

Being part of the Steering Group is a chance to learn how things work, take the lead, and help shape what happens at get2gether, while meeting new people and gaining experience.
Want to get involved?
The Steering Group is open to all members. It’s a great way to meet people, share your ideas, and help shape how get2gether works and what we do.
You could start by coming along to “How Does get2gether Work?” on Thursday 5th March. Hear from get2gether member and Trustee Naomi, and Elaine from Inspiring Scotland and learn who the Board of Trustees are, what they do, and get the chance to ask questions about how get2gether is run.
Check your March Community Magazine for the date and details of the next Steering Group meeting. Come along to have your say and help plan what’s next for the get2gether community, we can’t wait to welcome you!
