Meeting up with moggies

Karen, our Young People Ambassador, and many get2gether members went to visit the Cat Café in Edinburgh, here’s Karen’s blog:

The cat cafe

On a get2gether trip to Edinburgh’s First Cat Café, Maison de Moggy, we certainly weren’t short of attention from our furry four legged friends. With lots of different breeds of all colours and sizes everyone who came along found a favourite.

Once everyone got acquainted with the house rules (after all, we know that cats are the boss wherever they have stretching posts and a climbing tree) it didn’t take long for us to feel relaxed. This is a nice place for you to feel comfortable and staff explained everything about keeping cats and visitors happy.

A cake? Careful, the cats!

A cake? Careful, the cats!

It’s a small and cozy space and this is nice, as the cats will come up and say hi and if you have cake they are even more interested – there are rules (but the cats don’t seem to know this) that you can’t feed them, so make sure you have quick reactions.

If you are looking for something unique to try, this is worth a visit, but you do need to book. However, space can be limited so book in advance, and maybe call ahead if you have special requirements.

Not all the venue is accessible for wheelchairs so you might not see all the cats’ hiding places but that’s the good thing about moggies being curious they should come and see you.

The cats loved the smell of the wheelchairAlso it is a bit pricy at £7 for entry (refreshments not included) so this is something to consider and maybe appointing someone to collect the money as this was a bit stressful.

Overall, worth a try. Thank you, Maison de Moggy. basket
