November cover story
Look at our amazing Kiltwalk team crossing the finish line and raising £2,500 for get2gether! We are so proud. This November we are celebrating what self determination and collective power looks like!
To hear the incredible stories of our members, join us for our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the 14th of November from 4 pm – 6 pm, either in person at Thistle Foundation or online. Contact office@get2gether.org.uk for more information. We will be celebrating our members’ self-determination and another year of get2gether.
What is self determination? And what does it mean for our members? Self determination is when you make things happen that will maintain or improve the quality of your life. Members such as Erin, who will be talking about hosting her first in-person event or our member George who will be talking about the joy of taking part in the kiltwalk. We’ll also have Sean who will be talking about how socialising is a much bigger part of his life now thanks to get2gether, and Ambassador Natalie will be stepping up to the challenge of being the MC and introducing all our members contributions.
Self determination is individual to the member but what binds everyone together is collective power. When we work together as a community we make change happen. This can be members and Ambassadors working together to create events, like Erin and Philip, but it is also our 12 members who walked the Kiltwalk to raise money for the work that get2gether does.
By working together we can make change happen. This change might look like working with Dynamic Earth to make an Easy Read version to talking about Climate Change or talking about Sex with Crew2000 but it’s equally when members create events, attend events and support each other at events. Thank you to every member who has supported and joined get2gether in our adventures this year. We couldn’t do it without you – and we really wouldn’t want to.
See you at the AGM! There’s going to be a friendly welcoming crew, a Grab a Gab, music form DJ Andy, words from our members AND maybe pizza if you play your cards right!
