Live Your Life Course 2026

This month’s cover stars are the get2gether members taking part in this year’s Live Your Life Course. Over the past three months, members have met weekly, building confidence, learning new skills, forming new friendships, and stepping outside their comfort zone.

As this year’s course comes to an end in July, we’ve been speaking to members, volunteers, and staff members about what they have learned and taken away from the experience so far.

What the course covers

Live Your Life is a 12-week programme delivered through our Building Healthy Relationships project, funded by the Henry Smith Foundation. It is designed to create space for people to reflect on the life they want to live, build confidence, and explore what matters to them, alongside others with shared experiences. Topics include communication, confidence, relationships, and understanding what matters most to you. Members also explore practical approaches to managing stress, being heard, and setting healthy boundaries. Each session builds on the last, giving people the chance to reflect, try new approaches, and apply learning in everyday life.

The course is shaped around the idea that people are the experts in their own lives, and it focuses on supporting self-reflection, shared learning, and building on personal strengths.

Members experiences

Since the Live Your Life Course began, members have spoken about the difference it has made in building confidence, meeting new people, and developing the skills to advocate for themselves in everyday life.

“I’ve really loved being part of the course and meeting new people. It’s helped me feel more confident, and I’ve learned more about setting boundaries in a way that works for me.” – Nikola, get2gether member

These experiences are reflected in feedback from last year’s Live Your Life Course (2025), where 100% of participants said they gained skills for building healthy relationships, and 89% said they felt more able to cope with difficult times since taking part.

This year’s programme has also been supported by peer mentors, who help facilitate sessions and share their experiences alongside members. Ambassador Michael has been supporting the weekly sessions as a peer mentor on this year’s course.

“I’ve gained skills, I’ve learnt new words, I’ve met nice members who I’ve helped come out of their shell. I love the role of peer mentoring and learning from Philip.” – Ambassador Michael

Kaz is also a peer mentor on this year’s Live Your Life Course, helping lead sessions and taking part alongside other get2gether members each week.

“I’ve had a really good time on the LYL course again. I’ve learned more about my own personal journey, as well as making new fun friends along the way. Every time I get to revisit the course there’s always something new, including a wee refresher from before.”” – Kaz, Peer Mentor and get2gether member

Considering the course?

As this year’s Live Your Life Course comes to an end, we’ve loved hearing directly from members about what they have taken away from their time on the course, and what they would say to others thinking about joining. When asked what they would say to someone thinking about joining a future course but feeling unsure, soon to be LYL graduate Nikola said:

“If you’re thinking about joining, I’d say give it a go. It really helps you feel more confident and more able to do things in your own way.”

Kaz shared a similar message, reflecting on the value of giving the course a try and the space it creates to learn together:

“I highly recommend giving yourself the time to link in with the LYL team. It can be very interesting understanding how we can learn together, how to feel safe, and actually enjoy social interaction, especially when we already have the proper tools and skills in place.”
