DJ FEEL GOOD COLLECTIVE: DJGold S

“I’m happy and I’m proud because it’s not just a case of turning up, plugging your stuff in; you’ve got the plan and prep. I’m doing something I enjoy and entertaining people.”

Tell us a bit about yourself?

My name is Stephan, I have been with get2gether basically since its inception. I am get2gether’s longest resident DJ. I have seen many DJs come and go in my time but I’ve stuck. I’m part of the get2gether furniture. And in those eight years, I’ve only missed 2 ATIK nights!

Tell us about the start of your DJ career?

My DJ career started a bit by accident about 12 years ago. Kevin, one of our members at get2gether, asked me if I would DJ for his party and I always remember vividly the brief was ‘doof doof dance music’. He didn’t want anything else, just that. I learnt the hard way that you should always do as the customer asks and be adaptable! Upon learning that, my career has gone from strength to strength.

Who is your biggest musical inspiration?

Oh that’s difficult because I like loads of different genres. I like Carte Blanche, I like Tiesto, I like Amber D, who are people that follow me on my twitch channel. But if you’re going to go more local I like Grant Stott, not because he’s an honorary board member of get2gether, but I like his style.

What does being a DJ and part of the DJ Feel Good Collective mean to you?

I am really proud to be part of the Feel Good Collective and to be working with a great team of DJ’s who each bring something unique to the table. I cant wait to see and watch the Feel Good Collective go from strength to strength and entertain audiences for years to come.

DJing is a way of life, it’s a career, it’s a job but it’s also entertainment, joy, happiness. It’s juggling jobs and making people happy. Seeing the dance floor go from empty to getting everyone up, that is the best moment for a DJ. You know you’re doing something right. Knowing how to keep the dance floor busy is something I’ve honed and perfected over the years.

What are your hopes for the future?

I can’t wait to get back out there, post covid, into the community, doing parties, DJing back in the ATIK. But I’m also keen to stay online which has been fruitful for me as a DJ. I’d like to do both, like get2gether’s hybrid’s model.
